Per Barth Lilje’s Expertise Per Barth Lilje has since 1993 been professor of astrophysics at the University of Oslo. His main research interests are within cosmology, especially studies of the Large-Scale Structure of the Universe and the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation. He has published about 200 research articles in international refereed journals and has also extensive experience in university level teaching and in public outreach. From 1998, he led the Norwegian participation in the space mission Planck, which caused major expansion in cosmology research in Norway, with the cosmology group growing from two faculty positions to five. His involvement in Planck also led to major interaction with industry and interest for and experience in space industry and the interaction between space research and the space industry. This was continued with him initiating and leading the Norwegian participation in the mission Euclid, launched in 2023. From 2005 to 2012, he was, and again, from 2017 to 2024 he is, Head of the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics, the University of Oslo, Norway's only astronomy department, with full responsibility for the institute, including Human Resource (about 80 employees), Administration, Economy (annual budget of about 110 MNOK), Research and Teaching. He has been and is member of a number of international committees and boards, including the European Space Agency's Science Programme Committee (Norwegian delegate since 2000), the European Space Sciences Committee (member 2006-2012, this is an international advisory committee for all aspects of space science) and the Council of the Nordic Optical Telescope Scientific Association (2003 - 2015). Among several national responsibilities, he has been member of the Board of Directors of Andøya Space Education AS, a government owned limited company that initiates, develops, and performs educational activities at all levels of education within subject areas related to space.
